Kasande Jiret Rehema
Kasande Jiret Rehema contributes to local community development and activism in her role as a senior member of We Are Walukuba in Jinja, Uganda. She has taken part in community activities for 11 years.
Jiret performed as part of a 25-member ensemble in Wano Waife (But This Land is Ours) which told research stories from the Communication and Creativity project. The stories were performed to a total of 1,200 audience members over four nights with shows in Walukuba, Jinja, and the National Theatre in Kampala.
In this film, Jiret reflects on the personal benefits of participating in the project and of working together with others in the community changed her life.
Dr Matthew Elliott (Principal Investigator, University of Leeds) and Dr Lillian Mbabazi (Co-Investigator, Makerere University) provide an overview of the project and outline some of its broader impacts on the Walukuba community.
